Welcome to Redbough
Hello Darklings! And welcome to Redbough. I know you’re going to love it here.
Well…maybe love is too strong a word.
It’s a funny wee town really, comprising two parts. The Village is where the humans live and there’s a few wiccans and witches of the other sort too.
The Lights is where the vampires live (ironic, huh?) You don’t want to spend too much time there. As you can imagine, it can be a bit…well…a lot…dangerous. But it looks real pretty at night.
The werewolves live in the forest on the edge of Redbough. They mainly keep to themselves, They don’t like the Vampires and they’re wary of the humans. Can’t blame them, really.
The witches don't like the vampires either.
And, of course, the vampires don't like anybody really. Even other vampires.
Who am I?
Dottie Hitchcock. Pleased to meet you.
I'm the current "Historian of the Supernatural Species."
Although some of those species seem to think they're more "super" than others.
No matter.
My job is to record all the important stories of the supernatural races in the hope that one day, we'll all be able to learn how to understand each other better from reading each others stories.
Oh, and I'm human. I should probably have mentioned that earlier. In fact, it really is past time that I started training my successor. That's proven to be a bit more problematic than I originally expected.
Anyhoo.
Right now, getting the races to learn about each other without wanting to kill each other is like, literally, pushing the proverbial uphill.
But, we'll get there.
Maybe.
The Arcane Guild decided to publish some of the stories as fiction for we humans. It's about testing the waters, I think. You know, in case they want to reveal themselves at some stage.
If you want to read a small selection of our stories you can find them on the books page of this site when they're in ebook form, or you can sign up for a subscription and read them as they're being written.
I don't know if that's a good idea at all. But, as historian, my job is to record the stories not make decisions about them.
